Abstract
Movements of female Long-eared Owls Asio otus during the breeding season. Three female Long-eared Owls were radio-tracked during the breeding season of 2003. Although each female seemed to occupy a territory together with a male, one of them suddenly begun flying distances of up to 10 km during several nights, instead of starting to breed. During the day she could be tracked in her «territory» again. Afterwards the female stayed for a few days in an occupied neighbouring territory and finally left the study area. A second female also vanished. As only females could be radio-tracked there is no information about the males.
